KABUL (Pajhwok): Aziz Youldash, the son of Uzbekistan Islamic Movement (UIM) chief Tahir Youldash, has been killed in a security forces operation in northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Thursday.
Rohullah Ahmadzai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence (MoD), said Youldash was killed in operation on Wednesday afternoon in the Haji Saeed Gul village of Ghormach district.
Tahir Youldash’s grandson was also injured in the operation, he added.
But a security source in Faryab said that Aziz Youldash was killed by the Taliban.
The source added Ghormach district was under the Taliban control from the past three years and the government has nothing to do there.
“Last night the Taliban killed Aziz Youldash over cooperating with Daesh,” the security source said.
Police Spokesperson Abdul Karim Yourash said the operation conducted by the MoD was not coordinated with police.
Local Taliban in Faryab confirmed the killing of Aziz Youldash.
