KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday said 203 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected during the last 24 hours that saw 12 people dying from the infection.
The ministry said 1,307 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 203 people.
Of the new cases, 83 were detected in Kabul, 38 in Daikundi, 22 in Kandahar, 18 in Nangarhar, 15 in Balkh, 14 in Paktika, 12 in Paktia and one in Nimroz.
The ministry said nothing about any new positive case in Herat province. According to Mohammad RafiqSherzai, spokesman for public health department of Herat, the labs in Herat did not operate during the period.
About 512 people have been recovered during the past 24 hours, pushing up the number of recoveries to 35,934.
At least 12 people lost their lives to the pandemic during the period and thus the number of deaths rose to 1,687.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow its guidelines.
