Baghlan medics protest unpaid 4-month salaries

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Doctors at the provincial civil hospital in northern Baghlan province on Thursday protested against non-payment of their salary for the last four months.

The protesting doctors gathered in the courtyard of the hospital in Pul-i-Khumri and warned of closing the hospital gate if their salaries were not released.

Dr. Niyaz Mohammad, representing other doctors, said they daily discharged their duty properly but they were denied salaries for the past four months.

“We will wait for another two or three days and if our salaries are not paid, we will close the hospital gates.”

Dr.HabibullahHabibi, Health Department Director, acknowledged the Provincial Hospital doctors had not pocketed their salaries for the past four months.

“The salaries of at least 200 employees of the Provincial Hospital are dispatched from Kabul but due to a technical issue, the salaries have been stopped,” he said.

He assured that in near feature the salaries of these employees would be issued.
