KABUL (Pajhwok): Kabul and Tehran have conferred on the expansion of judicial cooperation and extradition of criminals, reports an Iranian media outlet.

Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan Bahador Aminian and Minister of Justice Fazal Ahmad Manawi also discussed Iran’s readiness to strengthen judicial cooperation with Afghanistan.

About 20,000 Afghans were languishing in Iranian prisons and 25 Iranians in Afghan jails, the ambassador was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.

Iran was willing to transfer the imprisoned Afghans to their country, added the diplomat, who hoped the ongoing peace talks would successfully conclude soon.

Minister of Justice Manawi was invited to visit Iran for talks on continued cooperation and exchange of experiences between the neighbours.

The justice minister praised Iran for hosting Afghan refugees, saying a logical solution must be found to the problems of immigrants and the exchange of prisoners.

The agreement on extradition of criminals between Iran and Afghanistan should be strengthened, believed the minister.
