HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): For the first time, Iranian government delegation and goods arrived in western Herat province through Herat-Khawaf railway line, an official said on Wednesday.
Governor Spokesperson Jailani Farhad said an Iranian delegation arrived in the province for the final talks on Herat-Khawaf railway line.
Goods transported through the railway line included 500 tonnes of cement in seven wagons.
Iranian Consulate in Herat said that 20-member delegation headed by Iranian Railway Technical Assistant Dawodi arrived in Herat province through Herat-Khawaf railway line.
According to sources the Herat-Khawaf railway line would be inaugurated in the end of on-going week by senior officials of the two countries.
Residents of Herat province welcome the finalisation of the railway line saying this will have a positive impact on the lives of the people.
The Herat-Khawaf railway line has four parts. Two parts are in Iranian territory and two more parts accounted for 150 km are in the Afghan territory.
