17 projects worth 318m afs completed in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Seventeen different agricultural projects worth 318 million afghanis have been completed in the capital and districts of central Logar province, the governor said on Monday.

Governor Ajmal Shapoor told a gathering here that the medium and large scale projects in the fields of agriculture, irrigation, livestock, dairy, horticulture and others were implemented with financial support from the Ministry of Agriculture, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and the European Union.

He said the projects consumed 318 million afghanis and took one year to complete.

Shapoor said the government was committed to the welfare of people and was developing the agriculture sector alone a cost of hundreds of millions of afghanis.

He said his administration’s aim was to ensure that all projects were carried out in required quality and in all areas as per the needs of people.

“These projects are a step forward towards modernization of agriculture and the leadership of the government is trying to meet the needs of farmers”.

Ajmal Shahpoor said the 17 projects had been designed and implemented according to new principles and requirements and such more agricultural projects would be executed.

Noor Ahmad, a farmer, said farmers depended heavily on agriculture and livestock and the authorities should pay attention to the sector.

He said local residents reared livestock and chickens but they needed permanent work for their welfare.

The Provincial Council expressed satisfaction over the projects’ completion and called for attention to all areas based on the principle of uniform development.
