KABUL (Pajhwok): Tens of war victim women from 13 districts of southern Helmand province and the mother of a recently killed journalist Elyas Daee on Tuesday demanded permanent ceasefire in the country.
They raised their demand in a gathering organized by the local office of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG).
AlauddinRaheeq, head of the Local Support Scheme, said around 100 women, who had lost their brothers, sons and husbands to the ongoing war, participated in the gathering.
He said the participants expressed their views on ongoing peace talks, durable ceasefire, raised their criticism and offered recommendations on peace process.
According to Raheeq, the participants termed ElyasDaee as the voice of people and offered a hall to his mother to pay homage to her.
Radio Azadi journalist ElyasDaee was killed when a bomb attached to his vehicle exploded on November 12 in Helmand.
A workshop trainer Abdul MoeedHashami said children, elderly persons, women and journalists should be protected in the war in line with Islamic rules and international law.
