KABUL (Pajhwok): The cabinet has decided to close wedding halls, underlining proper management of the second weave of Covid-19.
At a meeting chaired by President Ashraf Ghani, the council of ministers also stressed the need for public awareness, oxygen production and the use of masks.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said the cabinet meeting was held virtually on Monday evening.
The cabinet was briefed in government plans for managing the outbreak of the second wave of Covid-19, strategy, service quality and oxygen production.
The participants discussed vaccine preparations, the quality of public and private hospitals in the diagnosis and treatment of the pandemic.
Transparency and accuracy in presentation of figures from a single source and focus on the structure of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) also figured at the meeting.
The cabinet tasked MoPH with establishing a committee and holding daily meetings to report on the coronavirus situation.
A proposal from the MoPH to shut wedding halls was approved in accordance with the previous decision of the cabinet.
