KABUL Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Thursday said 177 more people were diagnosed with Covid-19 in the past 24 hour in the country.
The ministry in a statement said 2,247 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and 177 people tested positive, pushing the nation’s tally to 48,540.
The ministry said, 66 cases were recorded in Kabul, 33 in Balkh, 23 in Takhar, 12 in Kandahar, 10 in Zabul, 10 in Maidan Wardak, seven in Khost, five in Nangarhar, four in Kunar, three in Uruzgan, two each in Laghman and Sar-i-Pul provinces.
At least 117 individuals were recovered from the pandemic during the period, taking the recoveries to 38,150.
The ministry said 13 people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total deaths reaching 1,921.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
