PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Growing insecurity on the highway in northern provinces has worried people, public representatives and civil society activists in northern Baghlan province say.
They expressed their concerns about the insecurity in Baghlan districts during the introduction ceremony of the new governor Mohammad Akbar Barakzai.
Asadullah Shahbaz, a member of the Wolesi Jirga from Baghlan, said a number of security check-posts which had been destroyed on the highways could not be rebuilt.
According to Shahbaz, serious measures should be taken to maintain security of Baghlan province.
Mohammad Rasoul, head of civil societies, also called the security situation in districts as worrisome as well as on highways.
“Many areas are out of government control in districts while widespread corruption is underway and lands are being grabbed in government-controlled areas,” he said.

At the end of the ceremony, the new governor Mohammad Akbar Barakzai vowed to pay serious attention to the security of highways in the province.
