256 new Covid-19 cases, deaths reach 2001

KABUL Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday said 256 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours in the country, taking the overall tally 49,740.

The ministry in a statement said 37 cases were detected in Kabul, 48 in Farah, 32 in Panjsher, 25 in Balk, 25 in Kapisa, 17 in Ghor, 14 in Kandahar, 12 in Baghlan, 11 in Nangarhar , 9 in Paktia,  8 in Badghis, 6 in Laghman, 5 in Uruzgan, 3 in Herat, 2 in Kunar, one  each in Samngan and Jawzjan  provinces.

At least 90 individuals were recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 38,500.

At least 26 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 2,001.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
