230 new Covid-19 cases detected, deaths rise to 2017

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday said 230 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours across the country, taking the overall tally to 49,970.

The ministry in a statement said 71 new cases were detected in Kabul, 46 in Herat, 15 in Kandahar, 14 in Parwan, 12 in Baghlan, 10 each in Balkh, Khost and Nimroz, 9 in Helmand, 8 in Laghman, 7 in Kunar, 5 in Nangarhar, 4 in Badakhshan, 3 in Uruzgan, 2 each in Faryab, Kunduz and one  each in Nuristan and Jawzjan  provinces.

At least 148 individuals were recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 38,648.

At least 16 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 2,017.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
