KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) on Wednesday expressed its concern over the increasing targeted killings and magnetic bombs, asking the government to ensure justice.
A statement from the commission to Pajhwok Afghan News said that targeted attacks caused 31 civilian casualties in the past six months.
“Attacks on civilians are a clear war crime and their perpetrators would never be forgotten”, the rights body said.
AIHRC also expressed concern over increased attacks on civil officers, media and human rights activists and asked the government to inform families of the victims of such incidents about its investigations and ensure justice.
This comes as targeted attacks and sticky bomb explosions have recently increased in capital Kabul and a number of other provinces of the country.
A day earlier, Kabul’s deputy governor, Mahbubullah Mohibi, was killed in a sticky landmine blast, the type of attacks that had killed many prosecutors in the country’s capital in the recent past.
A number of journalists were also killed in Kabul, Nangarhar and Helmand provinces in similar assaults.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said police have captured a group of militants involved in sticky bomb attacks in Kabul.
The ministry added that efforts were underway to arrest other figures associated with these incidents.
