KUNDUZ/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A young boy has been rescued from his kidnappers after three weeks in captivity in northern Kunduz province, while a kidnapper has been sentenced to 13 years in jail in eastern Nangarhar province.
Ismatullah Muradi, the Kunduz governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that intelligence operatives rescued the boy named Salman from his abductors.
“The young boy was kidnapped 21 days back from Kunduz city. Last night NDS personnel rescued him from three suspects who were traveling in a rickshaw in Kabul port area of the province,” he said.
Muradi added the boy was reunited with his family and he was sound and healthy.
Ghulam Sidiq, the father of the boy, told Pajhwok that he was very happy with his son’s release. “I’m thankful to security forces for rescuing my son.”
In Nangarhar, a kidnapper was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment.
AttaullahKhogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok that an appellant court sentenced the kidnapper to 13 years in jail.
He saiad the ruling was not final and the convict could appeal against it.
