JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A 16-year-old kidnapped boy has been rescued and five kidnappers detained during a special police operation in eastern province of Nangarhar, the governor said on Thursday.
Ziaulhaq Amarkhel told a gathering related to the incident that the operation was carried out in Surkhrod district and five kidnappers were detained in connection with the boy’s kidnapping.
He said the boy named Abid had been kidnapped a week ago and kept in Shaikh Misri area.
The governor said notorious kidnapper Jahanzeb had also been captured and referred to the judiciary.
He assured people that security forces using all resources in hand would thwart terrorist activities and refer the perpetrators to the judicial department.
The rescued boy, Abid, said he was kidnapped by gunmen in a corolla type vehicle on his way to school and the kidnappers first demanded $300,000 and then added $100,000 more to the ransom money.
His uncle Allah Nazar thanked the crime branch police for their efforts for releasing his nephew.
The development comes a day after a boy was rescued from his kidnappers in northern Kunduz province.
