KABUL (Pajhwok): Head of the Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) Gulbuddin Hekmatyar on Friday expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity in capital Kabul and asked people to ensure their security themselves.
Hekmatyar expressed the view while addressing a huge gathering of his supporter marking December 26, the day former Soviet Union forces attacked Afghanistan back in 1979.
“Our suggestion is that the people of Kabul should ensure their security themselves,” he said.
He suggested Kabul City should be divided into 30 police districts and every district should be allocated 200 security personnel to improve the security situation and reduce crimes.
Earlier, other politicians, civil society activists, journalists and common people have expressed their concern over growing insecurity in Kabul.
Security situation deteriorated in Kabul as a large number of journalists, civil society activists, and rights activists have been killed in targeted attacks in Kabul and other provinces.
