KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 98 new positive COVID-19 cases and six deaths from the infection have been recorded across the country since yesterday, the Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday.
The ministry said 1,607 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 98 people, pushing the overall tally to 52,428.
Of the fresh cases, 15 were recorded in Nangarhar, 13 in Herat, 11 in Kandahar, nine in Baghlan, seven in Kabul, six in Laghman, five in Paktia, four each in Balkh, Khost, Paktika, Jawzjan and Ghor, three each in Takhar and Uruzgan, two each in Sar-i-Pul and Farah and one each in Bamyan and Kunar provinces.
At least 100 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 41,901.
The ministry said six people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 2,195.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
