KABUL (Pajhwok): Taliban’s shadow governor for northwestern Faryab province has been killed in an explosion, police said on Saturday.
Wakil Ahmad, also known as Mullah Nazem, was among six militants killed on Friday night when the bomb they had went off in Dawlat Abad district.
In Kabul, the Ministry of Defence said 50 Taliban fighters, including a commander, had been killed and eight others wounded in Helmand province.
During a security operation, the ministry said, eight Taliban strongholds were destroyed in Nawa and Garmser districts of the province.
In central Uruzgan province, at least 25 Taliban were killed and 12 others wounded in Gizab district, the ministry claimed.
