MoPH reports 94 new Covid-19 cases, 7 deaths

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 94 new positive COVID-19 cases and seven deaths from the infection have been recorded across the country in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Tuesday.

The ministry said 1,820 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 94 people, pushing the overall tally to 53,105.

Of the fresh cases, 13 were recorded in Kabul, 12 in Herat, 10 in Paktia, seven in Nangarhar, seven each in Kapisa, Kunar, six each in Kandahar, Takhar, Kunduz, three each in Balkh, Parwan, Faryab, two each in Baghlan, Nimroz, Paktika and one each in Daikundi, Ghazni, Logar, Ghor and Panjshir provinces.

At least 136 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 42,666.

The ministry said seven people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total deaths reached 2,244.

Initially emerged in Wuhan province of China, the virus then spread throughout the world. The US and Britain have been reporting a large number of infections on a daily basis.

Lately many countries closed their borders and delayed all types of travel in order to prevent the spread of the virus despite producing vaccines by many countries across.

MoPH has urged people to reduce travelling and also requested home quarantine in case of any visible symptoms.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
