Raees takes charge as Jawzjan governor, replaces Azizi

MAINAMA (Pajhwok): Mohammad Hashim Raees, a high-ranking personal security officer of Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, on Wednesday took charge as new governor of northern Jawzjan province.

Mohammad Sarwar Jawadi, Secretary Policy of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), introduced the new governor at a ceremony here.

Raees vowed to reject every kind of prejudice which he termed against moral and social values.

He was appointed as new governor of Jawzjan through a presidential decree four days back, replacing former governor Maulvi Lutfullah Azizi.

The new governor hailed soldiers and security personnel fighting on the front-line against militants and admired their sacrifices.

“I will always be with you and will never leave you alone,” said Raees. He stressed the need to strengthen national unity among people and called this principle an important one in order to fight against the tyranny and suppression.
