JALALBAD (Pajhwok): A 45-years-old man has been rescued from the clutches of his kidnappers by intelligence forces in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said Tuesday.
The man had been kidnapped from eighth police district of Jalalabad, capital of Nangarhar province, and then taken to Kama district of the province.
The kidnappers had demanded $200,000 in ransom for the release of the person.
Nangarhar governor, Ziaul Haq Amarkhel, said that Khanzada Gul, who was kidnapped 20 days ago from Jalalabad city, had been rescued by Afghan forces in Arbaban area of Kama district and was reunited with his family today.
He said the kidnappers demanded $200,000 from the family of Gul but Afghan forces rescued him during an operation and a manhunt was underway for the abductors.
Gul also said his kidnappers had asked for $200,000 for his release, but his family did not have that much money.
He said his family had asked the local administration and National Directorate of Security (NDS) for help. He thanked security forces for the assistance.
