JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three armed Daesh or so called Islamic State (IS) rebels killed in a clash with Afghan security forces in Jalalabad city, capital of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said Wednesday.
Nangarhar press office in a statement confirmed the incident to Pajhwok Afghan News and said the clash occurred when Afghan forces raided a Daesh hideout in Bagrami area of ninth police district of Jalalabad city on Tuesday night.
The statement added that security personnel suffered no casualties but three Daesh insurgents were killed in the battle. Security forces also recovered a number of weapons and some ammunition from the militants hideout.
“Three Kalashnikovs, 18 magazines, RPG 7 along with three shells, five grenades, two vehicles, a rickshaw, a laptop, three cell phones and a hard drive were discovered from the area,” the statement added.
On the other hand, National Directorate of Security (NDS’s) 02 Unit forces on Tuesday night captured Taliban’s deputy district chief for Momand Dara district of Nangarhar province.
In a statement, 02 Unit said they had raided Basol area of Momand Dara district and captured the Taliban insurgent on Tuesday night.
Elsewhere in the province, three Taliban were killed and one other wounded in an airstrike the in limits of Shrizad district of Nangarhar province at around Tuesday evening.
Taliban and Daesh groups have not yet commented on the incidents.
