Highway police officer killed in Herat crash

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Deputy company commander of the Herat-Islam Qala highway was killed and another wounded when their vehicle crashed into a truck in western Herat province, police said on Thursday.

Abdul Wahed Walizada, Herat police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the accident happened around 4pm on Wednesday.

He said Lieutenant Mohayuddin was travelling towards IslamQala Township along with his security personnel when his vehicle crashed with a cargo truck in Lakhshak area on the highway.

Walizada added deputy company commander of the Herat-IslamQala highway was killed and one of his subordinates was wounded in the accident.

Speed and disobedience of traffic rules are considered as a major cause of such collisions.
