KABUL (Pajhwok): The death toll from coronavirus has risen to two million worldwide, according to reports.
The coronavirus, which first appeared in China’s Wuhan a year ago, has since spread to 210 countries and territories around the world.
As of noon today, the number of coronavirus patients worldwide has exceeded 93 million, according to data released by the Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
So far more than 66 million patients have recovered and two million people have died from the infection.
According to published data, more than 4,000 people worldwide contract the disease every day and about 7,000 die from it.
According to reports, 23.9 million people in the United States, 10.5 million in India and 8.6 million in Brazil have been infected with the virus.
The death toll from the pandemic has reached 397,000 in the United States, 151,000 in India and 206,000 in Brazil.
Russia, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Britain, Italy, Germany, Iran, Turkey and Peru are the countries with highest number of positives cases.
So far, 53,831 people in Afghanistan have contracted the virus, 2324 have died and more than 45,000 have recovered.
