KABUL (Pajhwok): Gunmen shot and killed two women judges of the Supreme Court and injured their driver in Kabul City on Sunday, an official said.

Qazi Fahim Qoyam, spokesperson of the Supreme Court, confirmed the killing of the two judges. He said the slain Zakia Haravi and Qadria Yasini were among qualified and experienced judges and they worked in one of the Supreme Court departments in the capital.

Kabul Police Spokesperson Ferduos Faramarz told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened at around 8:30am in the 10thQala-e-Fathullah street situated in the limits of 10th Police District.

Eyewitness said three motorcyclists opened fire at a corolla type vehicle carrying two women.

Qais Ahmad, an eyewitness, the assailants fled on motorcycle but on the main road two of them got into a silver colored vehicle.

The Presidential Palace and Mesharano Jirga member Anar Kali Hunaryar strongly condemned the incident. Hunaryar asked the government to investigate the incident an arrest the perpetrators.

In a statement, President Ashraf Ghani strong condemned the attack and directed concerned authorities to probe the incident.
