KABUL (Pajhwok): US Chargé d’Affaires Ross Wilson on Sunday strongly condemned the killing of female Supreme Court (SC) judges and called for prompt investigation.
On his twitter account, Wilson wrote: “The United States condemns today’s assassinations of female supreme court judges and calls for a prompt investigation. My condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured.”
“The Taliban should understand that such actions for which it bears responsibility outrage the world and must cease if peace is to come to Afghanistan.”
Gunmen shot and killed two women judges of the Supreme Court and injured their driver in Kabul City on Sunday.
Qazi Fahim Qoyam, spokesperson of the Supreme Court, confirmed the killing of the two judges. He said the slain Zakia Haravi and Qadria Yasini were among qualified and experienced judges and they worked in one of the Supreme Court departments in the capital.
