PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Hundreds of displaced families were on Monday provided with cash assistance in northern Baghlan province, officials said.
Zabihullah Ehsas, deputy governor, told a gathering in this regard that the IOM had provided the cash and other assistance to 676 displaced families in the province. He said each family received more than 15,000 afghanis to buy winter items.
Shafiqullah Shafaq, director of Baghlan’s refugee affairs department, said the survey of IDPs had been conducted in a transparent manner and that all of them were poor families who had been displaced by recent violence.
He said each family was given 15350 afghanis cash and three blankets.
Sarah, a recipient of the aid, told Pajhwok Afghan News she had been displaced by the conflict. She thanked for their help, but said it was not enough.
According to Baghlan Refugee Department officials, about 20,000 families have been displaced by recent clashes in the province.
