77 new Covid-19 cases detected in 24 hours

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday announced recording 77 new positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours in the country.

The ministry in a statement said 1, 593 people underwent tests since Saturday and the virus was detected in 77 people, pushing the overall tally to 54,672.

It said 31 cases were detected in Nangarhar, 10 in Herat, 7 in Faryab, 5 in Jawzjan, 3 each in Kandahar, Paktia, Badakhshan, Laghman, Kunar, 2 each in Takhar, Baghlan, Uruzgan, one each in Kabul, Helmand and Nuristan provinces.

At least 355 people recovered from the infection, taking the recoveries to 47,298 and eight people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 2,386.
