KABUL (Pajhwok) Two people have been killed and 57 more wounded as a result of two traffic accidents in northern Balkh and western Herat provinces, officials say.
Ibrahim Mohammadi, head of Herat ambulance service, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a 303-type passenger vehicle heading to Kabul collided with a fuel tanker.
He said the driver of the passenger vehicle was killed and 32 passengers were wounded. Four women and three children were among the injured, the official added.
Mohammad Rafiq Sherzai, the Herat Zonal Hospital spokesman, confirmed receiving a body and 26 injured people from the site.
In Balkh, one person was killed and 25 others were wounded in a separate accident, said police spokesman Adel Shah Adel. The casualties happened due to a collision between a passenger vehicle and a truck in Chahar Bolak district.
According to Adel, 21 men, three women and one child were among the injured.
Dr. Ghawsuddin, direction of the Balkh Civil Hospital, confirmed receiving 25 injured individuals from the accident scene.
