8 more Afghans die from Covid-19 in single day

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday announced recording 37 new positive Covid-19 cases and eight deaths from the infection in the last 24 hours in the country.

The ministry in a statement said 1, 729 people underwent tests since Saturday and 77 people were diagnosed with the virus, pushing the overall tally to 54,891.

It said 12 cases were detected in Herat, four each in Kumar, Miadan Wardak, three each in Nangarhar, Faryab, two each in Kabul, Kandahar, Baghlan, Khost, one each in Parwan, Nimroz and  Paktika provinces.

The ministry said 90 people recovered from the infection, taking the recoveries to 47,549 in the country.

At least eight people lost their lives to the virus since yesterday, with the total death toll reaching 2,398.
