Injured ALP commander bedridden at home

SHARANA (Pajhwok): An injured Afghan Local Police Commander (ALP) Abdul Shakor has hit out at the government for not inquiring after his health after his condition deteriorated as a result of the injury he suffered recently.

Shakor has been serving in the security sector over the past 17 years in the Khairkot district and during this period he lost 18 members of his family to the on-going conflict.

He said during the past 17 years of service in police he faced with different problems.

“I lost my brothers, nephews, children and other members of family. All these sacrifices were for the sake of the existing system.”

Commander Abdul Shakor said he faced with the enemy ambush two months earlier in the Yousuf kehlo locality. “I got seriously injured in the incident,” he said.

“I am feeling ashamed, the Taliban telephone me and say how loyal your government is to you. You are injured and at home and your government does not treat you. Come to your village and surrender.”

The ALP commander, who is the breadwinner for over 20 orphans, is not well and facing numerous economic problems.

Islam Shah, a family member of the injured commander, said that Abdul Shakor had rendered huge sacrifices but the government paid no attention to his problems.

Paktika Police Chief Co. Lotfullah Karmarn said they were aware of the problems faced by Commander Shakor and they were trying to provide him emergency support.

“We are planning to send Commander Shakor to India for treatment and provide him with some other assistance as well.”

In the past, some other security personnel had complained about lack of attention from the government despite massive sacrifices they rendered.
