CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A highway police commander survived a landmine explosion in the capital of central Parwan province and elsewhere police arrested son and wife of a man over his murder in northern Samangan province.

The landmine blast took place in the first police district of Charikar at around 10am Wednesday, security officials said.

Parwan police spokesman Mohammad Salim Noori told Pajhwok Afghan News that highway commander Mohammad Akbar Syedkhili was on his way to office when his vehicle struck a roadside landmine in Charikar City. He said the commander survived the blast that caused damages to nearby buildings.

In Samangan, a man was killed in upper Dar-e-Sauf district and police arrested his wife and son in connection with the murder.

SultanAli Sultani, the district chief, identified the slain person as Mohammadullah, a resident of Chahardihi village.

He said his wife Nik Bakht and son Ahmad allegedly killed him inside their residence because of domestic violence. As a result, the police arrested both the accused.
