KABUL (Pajhwok): US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has met his special envoy for Afghanistan Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and discussed matters related to Afghan peace process.

Blinken and Khalilzad talked how they could protect US from the threat of terrorism and achieve just and durable political settlement in the war-torn country.

They also discussed cementing a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Afghanistan.

Taking to his twitter account Blinken said: “Great meeting with @US4AfghanPeace Ambassador Khalilzad to discuss the way forward in Afghanistan: continuing to protect the U.S. against the threat of terrorism, achieving a just and durable political settlement there, and cementing a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire.”

The new US administration already said that it was reviewing the February 2020 US, Taliban Peace Agreement to if the Taliban broke ties with international terrorist organizations or reduced violence.
