KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin have conferred on recent developments in the Afghan peace process, the Presidential Palace says.
In a phone call with Ghani on Friday evening, the US defense chief affirmed the Biden administration’s support for lasting peace in Afghanistan, a statement from Ghani’s office said.
Austin said the US backed a peace process in the war-torn country that was in favour of the Afghans and led to a permanent ceasefire, the statement added.
Both Ghani and the US defense secretary expressed their concerns over the spike in violence . . .
