HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Two individuals have been wounded during a clash with police in Herat prison, an official said on Saturday.
Mohammad Rafiq Sherzai, the spokesman for the Public Health Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News a policeman and a prisoner were wounded in the incident.
He said the prisoner was shot injured and the policeman stabbed. Both were evacuated to hospital.
A local official, who wished anonymity told Pajhwok the prisoners resorted to the clash as they were about to be moved to Kabul.
The source added police fired shot in the air to disperse the inmates. Some prisoners said they went violent after police began collecting cell phones from them.
A few months back, 10 police and prisoners were killed and wounded in a similar riot in the western province.
