KABUL (Pajhwok): Residents of Old-Taimani locality of capital Kabul say a water supply company has started digging newly-constructed streets to lay down water supply pipe.

They complain the newly constructed streets are being dug and damaged for the water supply project.

The old-Taimani streets from sixth to 13th are recently constructed. The construction work was of low quality and digging is further damaging the newly constructed alleys.

The Old Taimani locality local representative JawadSamadi said the water supply project should have been implemented before the construction of the streets.

Abdul Ahad, another resident, was unhappy with the ongoing water supply project and said the water supply project should have been implemented before the construction of the streets.

Zahir, another resident, said although the project was being executed by the government, every house was asked to pay 4,000 to 5,000 afs.

Eng. Hameedullah, head of the Water Supply and Canalization Company, said that the street which were dug up would be reconstructed on high standards. He said the vital water supply project would be completed in one year.
