3 militants blown up by own bomb in Kapisa

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): At least three Taliban insurgents were killed on Sunday when the bomb in their possession went off prematurely in central Kapisa province.

Police spokesman Abdul Shaiq Shourish told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Afghania Jar area of Nijrab district at around 6:00am.

He said the remote-controlled bomb went off as the militants wanted to emplace it inside a culvert. Three insurgents were killed, he added.

Saeed Jan, a resident of the area, said: “Three militants from Alasai district had come here and wanted to plant the landmine. But the bomb went off and they were killed.”

He said one of the militants died on the way to hospital and two others were killed on the spot.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the explosion and the killing of the fighters.
