KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan- Bangladesh match in the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 joint qualifiers has been deferred.
Scheduled for March 25, the encounter has been delayed to June 3 and its venue shifted from Bangladesh to Qatar, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced on Friday.
Bangladesh was to host Afghanistan at the Sylhet Stadium for their Group E return-leg tie. Afghanistan, however, declined visiting Bangladesh due to COVID-19 restrictions.
After close consultation with Asia’s Member Associations, the AFC said in a statement, it had confirmed the centralised venues.
