PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Police have rescued four children from kidnappers in Pul-i-Khumri, the capital of northern Baghlan province, security officials said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Ahmad Javed Basharat told Pajhwok Afghan News crime branch personnel freed the children from their captors in Pul-i-Khumri on Saturday night.
“An individual kidnapped four children from northern Balkh province and wanted to take them to Kabul and then to Iran,” he added.
The kidnapped minors included a girl and three boys from the same family. He said one individual had been arrested in connection with the kidnappings.
Basharat said the released children were handed over to their families on Sunday morning.
The children’s father said he was in Faizabad district of Jawzjan province when he learnt about the abduction.
“The kidnapper is Kazim, who wanted to traffic my children to Iran with the connivance of Gulbadin.”
A few months back, a child named Abdul Rauf was abducted in Balkh province and his kidnappers demanded $2m for his release.
