Who should not be vaccinated for Covid-19?

KABUL (Pajhwok): Health experts say coronavirus vaccine should not be administered to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and youth under the age of 16.

Experts also said people who consume the vaccine should relax and not worry by some symptoms that appear in their bodies post vaccination.

The areas on the person’s arm where vaccine is administered through injection should not be rubbed. That particular spot according to expert become red and painful but people should not be worried in such circumstances.

It is worth mentioning that so far 24,000 afghans have been vaccinated for coronavirus. Majority of these people complained against headache, fever, and body pain after vaccine administration.

Who should be administered the vaccine?

Dr. Hashmatullah Faizi, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in-charge in the Afghan-Japan Hospital, said people under the age of 16, breastfeeding mothers, pregnant women and those suffering from deadly disease such as cancer, diabetes, aids and asthma should not be administered coronavirus vaccine.

He said the reason why these people should not be administered coronavirus vaccine was the lower level of immune system of their body due these deadly diseases.

He said people suffering from allergy should also refrain from coronavirus because it may adversely affect in their body and further complicate their allergy.

Dr. Faizi said: “The advantage and disadvantage of vaccine to pregnant women should be evaluated. Pregnancy itself is a difficult period and in case of coronavirus vaccine administration child in the mother womb may be affected.”

Ghulam Dastagir Nazari, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, said according to the world Health Organisation’s guideline people under the age of 16. Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, people suffering from allergy disease should not be administered coronavirus vaccine.

He said according to research, the administration of vaccine to such people have not posted harmed to them but due to low immune system they may suffer heavy symptoms.

Some expert said people suffering from flue should not administer vaccine until they recover from the flue.

In addition, people suffering from coronavirus should also refrain from administering the vaccine until their quarantine period ends and recover from the virus.

Symptoms appearing after vaccination.

According to Dr. Hashmatullah Faizai around 90 percent people after getting coronavirus vaccine suffer from severe body pain, fever and some feel headache and stress.

He said symptoms related to vaccination appear four to eight hours after the vaccination and urged that get the vaccine and then go to rest, don’t go out and eat pain killer tablets.

Dr. Hakeemullah Saleh, assistant head of the Afghanistan Islamic Medical Association, said that fever, tiredness, headache, pain in body joints and in some cases vomiting are some of the symptoms that one may feel after getting vaccinated.

For the recovery Saleh advised getting pain killer tablets and a lot of liquids. He said besides the administration of vaccine all health guidelines such as wearing masks, ensuring social distance, washing hands and other necessary measures.

Public health minister spokesperson said that according to WHO some symptoms that appear in vaccinated person body are not worrying because it shows that body is reacting to the vaccine and anti-body was in the process of making against the virus.

“He said of every 10 vaccinated person, one suffer from body pain while of every 100 person, one suffer from diarrhea,” according to Nazari.

Experts suggest that in case of severe pain and other problems after vaccination, vaccinated person should contact with the doctor and health expert.

In Afghanistan, every vaccinated individual is provided with a card in which it is written that in case of emergency situation public health ministry official should be contact with 166 or 0788401128.

Second dose of Covid-19 vaccine should be administered

According to experts, the second dose of Covid-19 should be administered within three weeks of the first dose, but according to WHO and US health experts the second dose of the vaccine should be implemented after three weeks.

They says the second dose should be from the same vaccine administered for the first time.

According to Nazari the second dose should be administered three weeks after the administration of the first dose  and the vaccinated person should possess the vaccine card with themselves.

Referring to the quality and healthiness of the vaccine, Nazari said the vaccine was invented by Oxford University while the formula was being produced in the factories of United Kingdom, South Korea and India.

He said the vaccine has an approval from WHO and being administered to people in more than 13 countries.

This comes that India February 03 provided 500,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine with Afghanistan and its administration started on February 23.

President Ashraf Ghani during the inaugural ceremony of vaccine administration stressed its fair and just distribution.

On March 8, Afghanistan received 468,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses shipped via the COVAX facility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO.

Public health ministry said that in cooperation with international community government strived to get more vaccine for the people.
