KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defense on Saturday said 12 armed men affiliated with Alipur, an illegal upraising commander, have been killed and six others wounded in Behsud district of central Maidan Wardak province.
The ministry in a post on its Facebook page said that Afghan security forces conducted a series of attacks on posts which extorted people and belonged to Alipur, since Friday night.
The source said that 12 armed men of Alipur were killed and six others wounded during these attacks.
“These attacks were conducted for protection of public lives, public facilities and law enforcement as well as public order in Behsud district,” the source said.
The ministry said that anyone fighting against Afghan forces were enemies and would face action of security forces.
Armed men affiliated with Alipur have destroyed public facilities, government buildings and school buildings, they forcibly extort people, but Afghan forces try to ensure order in the district, he added.
This comes as armed men linked with Alipur shoot down a helicopter of Afghan forces, killing several crew and military people on last Thursday.
