GARDEZ (Pajhwok): The government has to face a huge shame if it fails to take revenge for victims of the helicopter crash in central Maidan Wardak province, family members of the victims said on Saturday.

Family members and relatives of helicopter’s crash victims in Gardez, the capital of south eastern Paktia province, said the government had failed to act against unauthorised armed commanders and their militias.

They expressed these views after offering funeral prayers for Sherullah Gardezi, one of the crash victims.

Gardezi’s family members said that Gardezi served in different units of security forces and from the past few years he had been serving in the special forces.

Sherullah’s uncle Fazal Din Kaka termed Alipour a terrorist and asked the government to take action against him.

“Everyone knows that no armed person could do anything until there is a strong support behind him.”

Sherullah’s village Ajmal said the government should take revenge of helicopter crash, adding that if the government failed, people themselves would take up arms and get their revenge.

The brother of a deceased soldier asked the government to take revenge of his brother and restore the dignity of government.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) acknowledged that illegal armed commander Alipour was behind the army helicopter crash in Behsud district and vowed to take revenge.

Alipour also acknowledged that his personnel brought down the army helicopter.
