Afghanistan records 36 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Friday announced registering 36 new positive coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours and two deaths.

In a statement the ministry said 1681 people underwent tests since Thursday and the virus was detected in 36 persons, taking the overall tally to 56290.

The new cases include 14 in Nangarhar, eight in Kabul and three in Herat.

The period saw 57 patients recovering from the infection, bringing the total recoveries to 49994, the statement said.

Two people died of the virus in the past 24 hours, with the total death toll jumping to 2469.
