Kunar: 1 killed, 2 injured in Pakistani shelling

KABUL (Pajhwok): One civilian was killed and two others injured in mortar shelling by Pakistani forces from across the Durand Line in eastern Kunar province, the governor said Friday.

Governor Iqbal Saeed told Pajhwok Afghan News that Pakistani forces fired 16 mortar rounds into the Sarkano district yesterday.

He said a young man was killed and two others were injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, Kunar police in a statement said the mortars hit the Gulpari Dara and Spiro Ghundo areas of Sarkano district.

Javed Safi, a member of the Wolesi Jirga from Kunar, condemned the attack and said Afghan forces had retaliated.
