SHARAN (Pajhwok): The Public Health Department of southeastern Paktika province says about half of the province’s children have contracted measles disease due to no implementation of vaccine.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Dr.Asadullah Rasouli, director of public health, said the number of measles cases in the province had risen dramatically.
“Based on information we have obtained from hospitals and clinics, about 50 percent of children are infected with measles,” he said.
He added that insecurity in the province had left children unvaccinated in some areas, leading to a sudden increase in measles cases.
