KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Thursday said that successful surgical prostate operation of President Ashraf Ghani showed high ability of the Afghan doctors and people need to trust them.
The president tweeted on Tuesday night that doctors successfully operated upon him for a prostate disease. He thanked the doctors and medical staff of the hospital.
Dr. WaheedMajroh, acting Public Health Minister, addressing a program organized about the World Health Day, talked about the ability of Afghan doctors.
He said the Public Health Ministry during the most difficult days of coronavirus pandemic proved they were able to provide quality services.
He called insecurity as the main barrier for delivering quality health services and said that currently 85 percent of people in the country received health services and efforts were on to increase the percentage.
Majroh termed Afghan doctors as asset of the health sector of the country and asked people to trust their health workers.
The Public Health Ministry plans to launch major health programs across the country which are initiated with support of the Presidential Palace, he added.
Addressing insurgents, he said that the health sector was neutral and militants should let health personnel implement the vaccination program and provide other health services to people.
On the other hand, Dr. Bashir Noormal, deputy planning and policy director in MoPH highlighted the ministry’s efforts at increasing public access to health service and said that expansion of health coverage was a priority of the ministry.
“Fortunately the capacity of Afghan doctors has increased and the medical system of the country is getting advanced,” he added.
He hoped that no Afghan would need to go outside of the country for medical treatment after four years during which the public health ministry would improve its services countrywide.
