KABUL (Pajhwok): Government’s contract employees on Sunday complained they remained unpaid from the past four months.
They said people are not offering them loans anymore and are unable to accommodate their families during the holy month of Ramazan.
An employee of the National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) on the condition of anonymity said they are not offered their salaries since November 2020.
“I have family, suffer from illness, how I could live without money, how I could accommodate my family,” he questioned.
Mohammad Asif Zyar, an employee of the Ministry of Mines and Patroluem, said he did not get his salary from the past two months.
“I don’t know what the reason is; initially relevant individuals in the Ministry of Finance said that salaries are not issued because of the non-approval of 2021 budget. But after the approval of budget they are not paid salaries,” he said.
Farid Tabai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, said that salaries of contract employees were suspended for a while but the issue had been settled.
“A special committee is working over the salary issue of contract employees and they will resolve the problem soon and issue the salaries of contract employees,” he said.
