KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) on Monday said 261,000 metric tons of chicken meat was produced last year, with the country almost reaching self-sufficiency in the poultry sector.
A statement from MAIL received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that over 9,200 big and small farms of egg laying chicken, chicken meat and chicken reproduction were operational in the country.
The source said that 3,500 farms of egg laying chicken, over 5,700 meat chicken and others reproducing the bird existed across the country. Kabul has the most or 2,000 chicken . . .
