Government helping US, NATO in troops pull out: Mohib

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib on Friday said that a working team was being formed to help NATO and US forces withdraw from Afghanistan.

Mohib expressed the view while addressing a security dialogue organized by an Indian based Institute Raisina. Indian and Iranian foreign ministers also address the dialogue.

He said after Doha agreement, the Taliban had a good opportunity to earn place in public hearts but they used this opportunity to declare themselves victorious in an arrogant manner.

He said Afghanistan did not need foreign forces adding that there was need to support own security forces.

“Time has arrived that the Taliban should reconcile with Afghan government and become part of Afghan society,” he said.

He stressed all Taliban groups should be part of peace talks and no groups should be excluded.

“There are groups within the Taliban every one of them want to reach power. If reconciliation is taking place it should take place with all Taliban groups --- Mullah Berather, Helmand, Mullah Yaqoub and Haqqani Network.”

Referring to the pull out of foreign forces from Afghanistan, Mohib said President Ghani was a perfect person for this job because he administered similar programme in 2014 as well.
