JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Special forces arrested nine ISIS or Daesh militants, including a commander, during operations in the Surkhrod district and Jalalabad city of eastern Nangarhar province, the provincial government said on Wednesday.
The Nangarhar provincial media office said in a statement that special forces launched an operation in the Surkhrud district last night, arresting an ISIS commander along with five comrades, two pistols and one traditional gun. Eight different types of mobile phones and SIM cards were also seized.
Separately, the special forces detained three suspected Daesh affiliates during an operation in Jalalabad, the provincial capital. The men were being interrogated.
Meanwhile, the 201 Selab Military Corps said three Taliban members were killed and two others injured during an artillery fire at their hideouts in Dawlat Shah district of neighboring Laghman province.
The hideouts were destroyed in the shelling.
